Festival 2026

September 12–13 | Berlin

For the 11th time, the Woka Kuma Festival invites you to discover the diversity of Burkina Faso’s art and culture. Once again this year, visitors can look forward to a varied program featuring music, film, dance, discussions, exhibitions, and culinary specialties.

2026 Theme: Faso Danfani – Fashion, Identity, and Global Responsibility

This year, special attention is being paid to an important cultural asset of Burkina Faso: the traditional Faso Danfani fabric. As a symbol of cultural identity, artisanal tradition, and local value creation, Faso Danfani is at the center of a program that explores the connection between fashion, culture, and social responsibility.

To introduce this cultural heritage to a wider audience, we will screen the documentary “La Sirène du Faso Fani” (2014) by director Michel K. Zongo. This will be followed by a discussion and a panel on the topic “Global Responsibility of Fashion and Tradition.”

As a special guest, the renowned designer Black Urban Chic will present his collections and creative work and offer insights into the contemporary African fashion scene.
