Donation handover 02.03.2024: Renovation of the Belleville infirmary
As already described in the appeal for donations in advance, we wanted to collect donations in Germany for the renovation (roof renewal, painting of the buildings, laying tiles in the maternity ward) of the infirmary (SPSS) in the Belleville district of Bobo Dioulasso. The population in Bobo Dioulasso and especially in Belleville is constantly growing and has tripled in the last 2 years, so more and more people are coming to use this infirmary even though the equipment has not been adapted. We were also able to hand over generous donations of medicines and bandages from Germany. On the day the donations were handed over and the construction work began, the district mayor of Arrondissement No. 7, the traditional chief of the Belleville district and the managing director and head doctor of the infirmary came together. Together with a women’s group of residents, the craftsmen carrying out the work and members of the Woka-Kuma Germany and Burkina Faso Association, the work was started in a festive ceremony and a few words of thanks were spoken for the commitment of the associations and the population. For example, we met a heavily pregnant woman who thanked us for the fact that she would now give birth in better conditions. A few weeks later, we received the news that she had become the happy mother of a baby boy.
In total, we were able to collect 4400 euros in donations and invest them in the actions in Bobo Dioulasso.
