Woka Kuma Festival stands for modern and traditional music, art and culture from Burkina Faso.
With a roaring 9-piece band last year, this year we want to bring even more variety to the concert evening. The theme of the event is ” Traditional music and current pop culture from West Africa – between two generations” As a guest of honor we have Angelina Akpovo, singer, composer, musician from Benin. She has been living in Hamburg for a long time and has built up the cultural festival Alafia there. With her music to traditional Afrobeat and Soul and her dance art she has successfully lived out many years of her musical career. The evening is also intended for Madame Akpovo to share her experiences of the music scene, her successes and the magic and power of cultural exchange.
As a counterpart and enrichment of the evening we have also invited the singer “Faity Baby”. He is a newcomer to the pop and rap scene from Bobo Dioulasso. In 2022 he received the “Bobo Lolo” award for his music, the highest award of the music scene in the region, and here he has the chance to present his music to the German audience for the first time.

Woka Kuma Festival means cultural exchange – besides the musical contribution there will also be African – Burkinabe buffet and stalls with African textile handicrafts. We meet in the FORUM FACTORY, event center and congress center in Kreuzberg on 30.09.2023 !
