This year, we would like to devote ourselves to a project that is particularly close to our hearts. For some time now, together with our sister association in Bobo-Dioulasso, we have had the idea and desire to invest in one of Burkina Faso’s greatest treasures: its culture. In the future, we would like to see a German-Burkinabe cultural center established in Bobo-Dioulasso, where artists, neighbors, and travelers alike can find a home. The cultural center will offer space for German courses, literacy courses, dance classes, music lessons, and events. Despite the country’s still very complicated political situation, it is clear that peace can only be achieved through education, a strong civil society, and a supported cultural identity among citizens.
Last year, we took a small step closer to this project with our partner association, Association Woka-Kuma Deutschland e.V. The municipality of Kiri in Bobo-Dioulasso provided us with a plot of land, which has already been ceremoniously inaugurated. The German delegation was also able to visit it in 2023, lay the foundation stone, and plant the first tree for eternity.
However, we will not start construction immediately.
Our fundraising campaigns for 2024/25
We have two specific projects planned for the coming months, for which we need your help:
Support for the local football tournament ‘Belleville Cup’ The tournament has been held for three years with the support of Woka – Kuma Deutschland e.V. It brings children and young people from the region together, promotes community spirit and fair play, and creates positive meeting places – a project that can achieve great things with limited resources.
Completion of the well drilling in the Kiri district
Access to clean water is a basic requirement for health and development. The drilling has already progressed following last year’s successful campaign, but we still need financial support to complete the project and gain access to the pump.

Kiri is a neighbourhood on the outskirts of Bobo-Dioulasso, a city whose population is growing steadily. As is often the case in ever-expanding cities, there are already people living there, but the infrastructure is not keeping pace – no public water supply has been installed in the Kiri neighbourhood to date.
